Tuesday 2nd June
Had a little bit of a sleep in today as we only had about 100 kms to drive. We had decided that we would drive straight into the city and go to the CN tower as the motel check in was not until 3.00 pm. We drove right into the centre of town using the GPS set to the CN Tower as the destination. We had decided that we would just look for parking as close as possible to the tower. Found a park for $10 until 6.00 pm so we parked and walked to the tower.

The tower was only about a ten minute walk from the car so we headed straight there and got our tickets to go up. There are two parts of the tower, the observation level and sky pod. We bought tickets to do both. The lifts to the top have glass panels in the floor and glass sides to look out as you go up. The tower soars up to 342 m (1,122 feet) and you arrive at the outdoor observation deck where, on a clear day you get amazing views of the city. There’s also an “elephant-proof” glass floor located indoors where you can look straight down to the street level. You take the stairs another 14 feet and you hit the Indoor Observation Deck.

Once up the top the views are awesome and they say you can see for 60 miles on a clear day. The day was in fact clear and the weather beautiful. Once we looked around for a while we got back on the elevator to go to the sky pod which is the world’s highest public observation deck and sits at 447 meter (1,465 feet)! There was about and hour wait but the wait was worth it. Buy the time we did all our looking around and got the elevator down is was really close to 4.00 pm and we still had not had lunch. Did not really expect the experience to take that long, but it was worth it. Made our way back to the car and there was a Subway straight opposite the car. Had our foot longs and got back into the car now heading to our accommodation.

It was about 20 or so kms to the motel and it was right near the airport. It was called the Doubletree Hilton and was really quite flash!! On check in the lady gave me two hot cookies to eat and they were yummy. The room was pretty cool but the stupid internet did not work. Apparently the internet provider was fixing a problem and they were hoping it was fixed soon. It took till the next afternoon to be fixed hence why the blog is a couple of days behind.
That evening we thought we would go to the movies. Headed out to a cinema in the GPS but we could not find it. So we put the second choice in and made it to the cinema by about 9.20 pm. Went and saw ‘Up’ and it was really good. Bit sad really for a kid’s movie. I would recommend you go and see it if you have time. By the time the movie was finished we had some dinner. As we had lunch so late it did matter that it was almost midnight. Went to Wendy’s for burgers and it was good, got fresh chips and they were really nice. Made our way back to the motel to get a good night sleep so we can hit Toronto city again tomorrow.
