Vegas
Tuesday 23rd August 2022
So today we slept in to make up for the huge day of travel yesterday. By the time we left the room it was basically time for lunch. Headed out in the car and decided to go to Dennys at the south outlet mall. Pulled up in the carpark and realised that Dennys wasn't even there but it was Chilli's. That'll do as we were so hungry and just needed to eat. Went in and as I walked in the front door I saw 2 people sitting in the waiting area. I then realised it was our friend Amy from Washington state. I got the shock of my life as Bronte hadn't told me he organised her to meet us. Turns out Amy was already in Vegas visiting her good friend Susan. Was so good to be surprised by this. Had a nice lunch and made plans to catch up at Susan's for dinner. Home cooked ribs and Mac and cheese, how could you turn that down.
We then went shopping at the outlet mall and bought some new CF training clothes and shoes from Reebok. Then it was the first trip to Walmart in 3 years which did not disappoint.
Back to the Luxor for a freshen up and then to Susan and Mike's for dinner. Such a yummy dinner and a couple of cold beers and a great chat and catch up with Amy.
Left there after 10pm and decided to drive to Fremont St and do a lap of old Vegas before heading south along the strip back to the Luxor. A few new things on the way including the Vegas Arch and Resorts World before being back at the Luxor for a well earned rest. Another busy day planned for tomorrow as well as this horrid jet lag to get over.

La after 3 long years

Today we arrived into LA at around lunch time and it took a little while to get through customs but the longest wait was for our bags. Once the bags were sorted we hoped on the bus to the rental car place and went and picked up the rental. Got a really nice car and hit the road. We were travelling straight to Las Vegas and it was going to be a 5 hour trip. We managed to make it to Vegas by about 10pm where we got something to eat and then went and checked into the Luxor. We were both so tired due to being up for over 30 hours and a sleep was desperately needed. Was certainly nice to be back after 3 years.

We get to spend 3 nights here in Palm Springs which is going to be relaxing. We have no plans and are just going to soak up the amenities and lots of time in the pool. We had some Denny's for dinner and then a reasonably early night to bed.

Same again today really not much on the agenda. We were contemplating doing the Palm Spring Tramway but in the end decided not to. Seeing as it was our last night and we wanted to having something nice for dinner so we went to Red Lobster. It was a very nice meal but as usual the servings are just too big and we had lots left over. Once back at the resort we spent most of the night with Ian the other Aussie and Daniel and Kevin from San Francisco. We had a great night and unfortunately we head to LA tomorrow as we fly out at 10.30 pm.

Today I went to the spa first thing in the morning and had s soak in there for about 4 hours. Once I got back to the room we headed out for lunch and got some really nice Raising Cane's chicken. That was at the southern outlet stores so we then went shopping and Bronte got some new sneakers. After that we went back to the room for a little while before we ventured out for dinner. Went for Cracker Barrel tonight as we hadn't been this trip and we really enjoy the meal there. After that we drove to Fremont street to experience the old Vegas. We had a nice walk around for s bit over an hour before heading back to the room around midnight.

Once again a morning spa to start the day and then off to the Hollywood Cars Museum. It wasn't too bad but the cars were imitation as in not the actual screen used ones. A few were but most not. There were some really nice ones and some really bad. The place could have done with a big clean as well. From there it was off to Kounts Kustoms for a look as well. Tonight we have tickets for Janet Jackson which is going to be really nice. Janet was performing just the other side of New York New York so it was only about a 20 minute walk. She put on a good show and it was packed out. After the concert we got some dinner on the strip at the Outback Steakhouse before stumbling back to our room slightly intoxicated! We had a great night.

Again to the spa to start the day and then it was s nice drive to boulder City to the Hoover Dam and bridge. Took is around 5 hours by the time we drove out, walked across the bridge and then walked across the dam. It was hot, at one point the temp gauge read 121 degrees F. It was nice to finish our last day in Vegas with a trip to the dam. Tomorrow we head to Palm Springs.
Friday 16th August 2019
Today we head to Palm Springs. This is going to be total relaxation and not much else. It was a 4 hour drive through the desert towards Twentynine Palms where we stopped for lunch at Popeyes. We got to the resort about 3pm and checked in. It really was beautiful and it was going to be a great 3 days. They had happy hour between 5 and 6 where the management put on drinks and nibbles so we could get to know the others. Ended up in the pool and spa for most of the night and just a little drunk. I think I went to bed at 3am. Met another aussie from Sydney who was a really nice guy. Lots of pool time for the weekend add it's around 45 degrees everyday.
