palm springs

Saturday 17th August 2019
We get to spend 3 nights here in Palm Springs which is going to be relaxing.  We have no plans and are just going to soak up the amenities and lots of time in the pool.  We had some Denny's for dinner and then a reasonably early night to bed.

Same again today really not much on the agenda.  We were contemplating doing the Palm Spring Tramway but in the end decided not to.  Seeing as it was our last night and we wanted to having something nice for dinner so we went to Red Lobster.  It was a very nice meal but as usual the servings are just too big and we had lots left over.  Once back at the resort we spent most of the night with Ian the other Aussie and Daniel and Kevin from San Francisco.  We had a great night and unfortunately we head to LA tomorrow as we fly out at 10.30 pm.

yosemite

Wednesday 7th August 2019
Nice trip on some secondary roads to the Yosemite entrance.  After and hour we got to a traffic jam and had to wait about 20 minutes in the line up of cars trying to enter the park.  Once through we took the road to Glacier Point which has and amazing view of the half dome. It was so congested trying to park in the lot there as well as it was so busy.  Once we took in the sites we were  back in the car to continue onto the lower valley of Yosemite.  This takes us through a tunnel to Tunnel View which gives the famous  Yosemite view of the valley.  We then continued on and did a walk to the Bridalveil Falls which was nice.  From there we stopped close to the river and walked a board walk to the water where I had a paddle in the river.  Then another short drive and a stop off for a walk to the lower Yosemite Falls which also gives you a view of the upper falls.  After that walk which was around an hour it was time to make tracks to Reno which was about  5 hours.  After an hour or so drive we were at Olmsted Point which gave a view back across the valley to the northern face of the Half Dome which was spectacular.  The rest of the drive to Reno was 4 seasons in a day.  We had rain,  sleet and wind which saw the temp go from about 31 to 13. Got to Reno quite late so we stopped for some Denny's before checking into Circus Circus for the night.
Tomorrow we head to Salt Lake City.

la, peterson and fresno

Up nice and early and hit the LA traffic and head to the Peterson Car Museum.  They had a movie car exhibition running at the moment which you guessed it,  they had the BTTF 'A car' on display along with many other famous cars including also KITT from Knight Rider which was a screen used car.  The museum has so many good cars in it's collection and it's always worth a look.  We walked out of the museum and a few metres up the street to the street lamp installation of 202 lamps in front of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  A nice walk back to the car and then to hit the road to Fresno which takes us about an hour or so from the entrance to Yosemite.
The trip was good and after checking in we went to Chilli's restaurant for dinner.  The meal was superb and possibly the best meal from a Chilli's ever.  Quick trip top Wal-Mart after dinner for supplies for Yosemite and then back to the motel for bed.
