hoover dam and old neon

Tuesday 2nd May 2017
Tuesday morning saw Brontes birthday and today was going to be about doing what ever he wanted to do for his birthday.  We drove to Hoover Dam and we stopped at the bridge prior to the dam and we walked over the bridge.  It is so high and that's how I got the first photo below.  We then drove over the dam to the other side and parked the car so we could walk over the dam wall and look back to the bridge.  The water is getting lower every year we come here.  It was not too hot walking around only about 34 degrees which is nice.  We then drove back to Boulder and had some Tacos for lunch.  From there we come back to the strip and had a walk around in the Fashion Mall before heading back to our room to get ready for our Neon Boneyard Tour.
The tour started at 6.30pm and went for 1 hour.  The tour was pretty good but unfortunately we couldn't get a night time one to see the lights.  They were all booked out.  As it turns out there are only 7 functioning signs in the boneyard anyway.  The actual building used to be the main lobby of an old motel the 'La Concha' which had been moved from its original location near the strip.  The tour was really good.
After that we went to Hash House a GoGo on Sahara for our dinner before going back to Fremont Street to see the Fremont Experience.  By this time it was after 11pm and we decided to go back to our room.  Tomorrow is our last day in Vegas before we fly to Seattle.

las vegas and counts kustoms

Monday 1st May 2017
Today we slept in a bit and then went to Counts Kustoms for a look.  We had to buy some t-shirts for a friend as well.  The cars are really nice and some of the paint work was amazing.  We saw Kevin from a distance and Roli was moving a really nice black Mercedes.  Danny was nowhere to be seen.  After that we went for a drive around suburbia for a look.  We also went to the northern and southern outlet stores and did some shopping.  After that we had some Chili's for dinner.

palm springs to vegas

Sunday 30th April 2017
Today we drove from Palm Springs to Las Vegas.  It was only about a 4 hour drive through some really nice desert area.  To start off with we skirted the edge of the Joshua Tree National Park and then keep heading towards Primm where we would stop for lunch.  Had some nice scenery on the way through a valley that had some sand dunes in it to parts of it being covered in Joshua Trees.  When you come out onto the main road near Primm Valley you get a great view of the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility and what looks like bright lights but is actually sun rays being reflected around to one point.  We ended up getting to Vegas by about 5 pm and checked into our Motel Desert Rose.

palm springs

Saturday 29th April 2017

Today we spent most of our time at the resort and made use of the amenities.  We were both suffering jet lag and I was awake at 4am and couldn't sleep.  I had some breakfast and had a swim and a spa.  We went for a drive to grab some lunch and then went to Walmart to get some bits and pieces.  Went back to the resort and used the pool and spa again.  We ended up driving to Outback Steakhouse for dinner before returning and having some drinks while relaxing in the spa.  Tomorrow we leave and head to Vegas which is about a 4 hour drive.  Staying at Desert Rose this time in Vegas so that should be nice for something different.  Got a few photos of the resort below.

la and the petersen museum

Friday 28th April 2017
Arrived yesterday at lunch time into LAX and went and picked up our rental car.  We got a Chevy Malibu which is not a bad car.  Went and checked into our motel where we freshened up etc.  Headed to Applebees for dinner and then got a good night sleep.  Today we checked out and went to the Petersen Museum as I hadn't been there since the renovation.  The museum was good but a little more clinical and more like an art gallery than a car museum.  We did the Vault tour and by that time it had gone 2pm.  We hit the road then bound for Palm Springs where we are spending 2 nights.  The traffic was horrendous and took 4 hours to travel 180 kms.  The accommodation is nice here and we met some others staying here last night and had a few drinks in the spa and a great chat.  Not sure what we will do on Saturday.  Stayed tuned.
