snoqualmie falls and spokane

Wednesday 31st July 2019

Nice and early start with an 8am breakie to start the day. Today we had a leisurely 5 hour drive to Spokane but first stopping at Snoqualmie Falls for a walk and quick look at the falls.  It was beautiful there and the garden and trees just stunning.  Not to mention how perfect the weather was. 

Back in the car for a couple of hours before stopping at DQ for lunch,  mmmm yum!  Arrived at Ruby's 2 which was the motel be had booked which is a really nice, boutique and artsy place.  Went for a quick walk down to the River Front Park amusement area.  We had planned to meet Amy again and hang out with her.  We met near the Looff Carousel and started with a ride on that which was fun.  From there we walked around the park looking at the garbage goat,  the red flyer wagon and then a ride on the gondola.  It was a beautiful evening which was completed with a nice meal at Europa which was really good.  Had to say our goodbyes to Amy as we won't be seeing her again until we travel back next year maybe.  Amy gave us a lovely bottle of whiskey which is distilled in the Washington area made from grain that her husband grows.  It was a really nice gift.

Off to Whitefish Montana tomorrow as we head to Glacier National Park.

Tuesday 30th July 2019

We had a nice sleep considering the jet lag and still managed to get up in good time.  We had planned to visit some friends including Toby at DeLorean Service North West.  We had to travel to Bellevue which was a good 45 minute drive.  Spent a couple of hours visiting Virginia who was the prevoius owner of our DeLorean then onto Toby at DSNW.  Also spent a couple of hours with him and another owner from Queensland who just happened to be there at the same time as us. Such a small world!  We then had some lunch and drove back to the motel.  Went for a walk to the Westfield shopping centre across the road for a look.  It was then time to head to the airport to pick up Debby from Houston.  Once we picked her up we got her checked into the motel and then went for dinner. Dinner was at Jimmy Macs and was yummy.  We head to Spokane first thing tomorrow as we go east to Montana.

Monday 29th July 2019

Today we start out already in Sydney and ready for our flight to LA. (We flew to Sydney sunday night.)   We were then actually stopping in LA for 3 hours until continuing on to Seattle.  After getting to the lounge and having some breakie,  we board the plane and set off.  14 hours later we touch down 10 minutes early at 5.50am. We can't get out of the plane until 6am as the ground staff don't start work till dead on 6. We were first off the plane and to customs and quarantine and outside the terminal within 30 minutes.  That was a record for LA.  Bit of a rest in the lounge before the 2.5 hour flight to Seattle which was nice. Got the rental car and headed straight to the motel.  Then had a shower and went to the Museum of Flight for a look. After that we went and did some shopping at Walmart.  We were having dinner tonight with Amy, (who lives near Spokane) at a Mongolian hot pot right near the city.  It was Amy's birthday.  It was delicious but by the end of dinner we were so tired!  We'd been up basically for 30 hours and it was now bedtime.  Tomorrow we go visit more friends and then pick up our Houston friend Debby for our road trip on Wednesday.
