shoshone falls, gardiner and yellowstone

Saturday 29th July 2017
Got up this morning and went for a drive to Shoshone Falls which is just a couple of kms from the motel out of Twin Falls.  It was a really nice little park and gardens and the main attraction being the spectacular waterfall.  The lady at the motel said it was worth it and she was right.  Side note to this is Evel Knievel tried to jump snake river which is at these waterfalls back in 1974.  Had a look there and then hit the road for Yellowstone.  We had to be at our motel before 7 pm and we weren't shore how long it was going to take to get there.  We hit West Yellowstone and entered the National Park.  The drive was slow and there was road work and gravel road for a few miles.  We headed north and got to Mammoth Hot springs and kept going to Gardiner which was just a few miles further.  Got the the motel and it was amazing.  Perched right on the river next to a bridge.  We were on the top floor and had a balcony that faced the river.  Went for a walk and checked out the town.  It was really cute and rustic and had lots of charm.  We walked to the Roosevelt Arch which is essentially the entrance to Yellowstone.  We choose a cool restaurant for dinner named Cowboys.  Had ribs and burgers which were pretty good.  Walked back to the room and sat on the balcony and watched the sunset.  Tomorrow we hit Yellowstone proper.
