Sunday 6th June
Today we went further north and headed out of Vancouver towards Whistler. It was only going to be about 2 hours to travel. We headed out on some absolutely beautiful roads and scenery as we passed through North Vancouver. The road twisted through the mountains and passed massive lakes as it went. There were too many places to stop and take photos that in the end all the photos looked the same.

We arrived in Whistler at about 1.00pm, parked the car and walked into the main town area. We found a tourist spot and asked the person about the gondola ride to the top of Whistler. This gondola actualy went to the top of Whistler, you then changed into a bigger gondola and crossed the gully from Whistler to Blackcomb, all together it took about 45 minutes to get to the other side. The peak 2 peak Gondola, as it's known is 4.4 kms in length from the one peak to the other, the length of the cable between supports is 3.024 kms and at the highest point the gondola is 436 metres above Fitzsimmons Creek.

Once at the top we took a heap of photos on the snow looking out over to Whistler Village. The view was spectacular to say the least and we spent over an hour at the top including having a nice cup of coffee looking out over the mountains. We caught the gondola down and then had a short walk around the town before making our way back to the car. Once at the car we switched on the Tom Tom and put in Kamloops and the motel we were heading too. It stated that it was 295 kms and was going to take 5 hours, it was 5.30 pm by this time that meant we were not going to get in till after 10.30 pm. So we hit the road thinking that it can not take 5 hours to go less than 300 kms.
The trip was magnificent and we managed to get to Kamloops by 9.15 pm. Some of the speed limit through the mountains was 70km/h and the fastest was 90. Once in we went out and got some food from A & W and then went back and did all our washing. We are heading to Banff and Lake Louise tomorrow and have a 500 km trip through the Rockies so it should be a nice drive.
