Thursday 21st April 2011.

Good morning all you adventure people that follow our day to day travels. Today we had a bit of a sleep in before we ventured out to Market St where we caught a street car (tram) to Fishermans Wharf. We got off the street car at pier 39 where we had a walk around and took in some of the sites and shops of the pier. From there we walked towards Hyde St pier and on the way we passed one of many clam chowder shops and decided that we would have clam chowder for lunch. The chowder is served in a sourdough bun that is cut out and has the chowder in it. And yes it was very nice and certainly filled the spot. We walked further along the piers until we got to the Maritime National Historical Park. They had and old paddle steamer ferry and an old sailing boat that had been restored. There were about 6 or 7 other boats but we only looked at a couple of them.

We made our way back to where the cruise boats were and found a 1 hour cruise that included going out under the Golden Gate Bridge and then past Alcatraz. The boat was called the Wacky Jacky and it was normally a fishing boat. It was good as there was only about 20 people on it so it was not too crowded.

Once the cruise was done we walked up Hyde St to Lomabard St. It was a very steep walk but we did make it to the top. Lombard St is the crookedest street in the world. We walked from the top to the bottom fitting in with the other million people that were there at the same time.

We walked back to Hyde St to catch the cable car to Market St but the line up was about 200 people deep. It was already 5.30pm so we thought that we would not wait and go back to the Street car and catch it back to the motel.

We decided to have pizza for dinner and walked down Market St to the local pizza shop. Had a Hawaiian pizza with chicken and it was really good.

Tomorrow we plan to spend the day riding our bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge. Just hope the weather is nice.
