Today we drove from Mariposa to Yosemite which was only around 70km away. The roadway was very picturesque and it took about an hour to get there. We stopped off at the park entrance and took a photo at the sign which had a back drop of a river which was flowing incredibly fast. We entered the park and stopped at Fern Spring which appeared to be water coming from the ground and cascaded down towards the road.
The next stop was then the Bridalveil Falls. We had to walk towards the fall for about 400 metres and as we got closer it seemed like the rain started to get heavier but it was actually the spray from the water fall. The path its self seemed like it was a water fall as there was so much water flowing down that as well.
As we drove further into the park we could see Yosemite Falls but it was covered by cloud and fog and you could not see it properly. Stopped at the car park and walked to the visitor centre where we looked around and got some info. Grabbed some lunch from the shop (hot dogs) and then went for a drive around the loop track. As we drove the weather started to change, the clouds broke open and we could see hints of blue sky. As we went back past the Yosemite Falls you could now see it properly. We stopped off and took a walking track which took you to the lower falls. The view from here was great, the falls were so tall and so much water was going over them. At this time of the year there is meant to be the largest amount of water going over the falls. From there we thought we would drive out of the southern entrance of the park which included going through a tunnel dug through a mountain. The roadway out was very beautiful and it took about an hour to get back to Mariposa. Only 270kms from there to San Francisco which is where we are staying now for the next couple of days.
