Drove to the Kennedy Space Centre (KSC) today at Cape Canaveral which was only about 30km from Cocoa Beach.  We ended up spending all day at KSC as there was so much to see and do.  A bus took us on a trip around the NASA site so we could see first hand where the rockets and space shuttles were made and got ready to fly, including how the shuttle was moved to the launch pad and the actual launch pads.  There was an Apollo rocket/space ship inside a shed on display.  It was so big and so very hard to get a good photo of due to its size.  Plenty of NASA stuff to look at and lots of information to read.  They also had a nice area where there was a memorial to those that had lost their lives like the crew in 1986 Challenger disaster.
Once done we hit the road and headed for Orlando which was just a bit less than 100km away.
